Another photo of Vicctoria

professional photographer Spain,commercial photographer Spain,Valencia,Vicctoria

Some photos ask for a lot of work, a lot of light control and a lot of process later. Others simply don’t. Others work perfectly with two or three details that, moreover, come directly to mind as soon as you see them.

That’s why I uploaded this other photo of Vicctoria. It was not one of those we chose at first, but it has a point of intensity that interested me especially, perhaps by expression. We moistened her hair a bit to get the shine and that helps a lot to give life to the image.

On the other hand, the black background and the contrast are key elements for the final result.  Looking out of the picture helps to consider that Vicctoria’s thinking is directed more towards other interests than the camera, the light or the photographic session. However, it is not a totally static pose, and that small movement endows an additional interest to the final result. The original frame was vertical, but I finished with a square photo.

Overall, this was a photograph we did for a session that was in the boudoir line. It was the first time that Vicctoria and I worked together and the result was, in my opinion, very positive. If you want to see more photos of this type, you can have a look at this post or this gallery . If you just want to see my portraits…

If you would like to have photos like this other photo of Vicctoria, you can send me an email to sergi@archerphoto.eu or send me a Whatsapp to +34 644459753. I shoot in Valencia, but also in Madrid, Barcelona or any other site.

The boring details

On the technical side: ISO 2000, shot with a 50mm f / 1.4 Canon, but f / 1.6, fired in RAW and later processed with Adobe Lightroom. The camera used was my EOS 5D Mark III, and we were using continuous illumination. The clipping used as a featured photo is a little turned up because it looked better, but it’s the same photo.

Be a model

be a model,become a model,Archerphoto,professional photographer,portfolio for models

The main problem that a person who wants to devote to being a model is that there is no really valid course. You’ll learn it while you’re working. But while the prettiest part – posing, parading, appearing on magazine covers – is known by everyone, there are thousands of details that are not so obvious. We’ll tell you some.

How to be a model

In general, models should have basic notions of law because they are often signing contracts. And on some occasions, they believe that these contracts bind them absolutely, while in others they fail to ignore the risks. Of course, when things become complicated, you have to contact a lawyer.

Marta Ortiz,be a model,become a model,Archerphoto,Sergi Albir,fashion
Marta Ortiz in Mompó, 2011.

A person dedicated to the world of fashion should be able to distinguish the work of a professional photographer from disasters that makes an amateur or someone who claims to be professional. Not being able to distinguish these details can make you lose many hours of work in sessions that you think will provide you with some valid material and it is not.

Rookie photographers rarely get really professional results. Opportunities for a starting are not to be missed. When you go to an agency, you must show them the best you can give. Not a badly framed photo, worse edited and with a pose and expression that do not favor you. That could prevent you from being a model. But don’t give up: it is solved with good photos. But you know that the first impression happens only once. Do not waste your ammunition.

You may think that you do not know how to educate your taste to learn to distinguish some things from others. You can compare top fashion magazines like Vogue or Elle, for example, with everything else.

Find your place

There are many types of models. Improve your acting (you can look for acting courses, but avoid model courses, which are usually a total rip-off ). Take care of your physical form, your food and try to work well as a team. And of course, take advantage of your specific skills: if you dance, practice a sport or have some peculiarity that can make a positive difference, it is important that you exploit it and take advantage of it.

Recent portfolios: 2017

portfolio for models Archerphoto professional photographer Valencia Spain

It’s being a quite productive season. If I was doing a lot of videos during the winter, now the portfolios for models, sessions and photos are being a more important part of the work. And they are, without doubt, good fun and in general, very interesting. It is true that in many cases there are topics such as makeup, hairdressing and subsequent editing are a more laborious job than a report of an event, but it is worth it.

Of the sessions, all of them in Spain and most of them in Valencia, some have been boudoir photography, other conventional books and some other professional session. There are also some things that just do not fit here, because they are more private in scope, and there are also other photos that belong to ongoing projects that are not finished and I prefer not to show yet. In some cases work was for a model, in one for a dancer and in another for a person who did not dedicate himself professionally to the image, but in every case we make the maximum effort to obtain the best result.

As I often find, my option for many of the photos final result looks better to me in old black and white. I still can not explain easily why.

In any case, in addition to videos, portfolios, sessions and photos, and all my work as a portrait photographer, the topic of SEO positioning is taking me an important time. I’ll probably have some invited contributions in the coming months.

You can contact me at sergi@archerphoto.eu or on +34 644459753. I don’t always have dates available, so contact me as soon as possible. I don’t just shoot portfolios for models but also business, real estate and corporate photography. In Valencia, in other places in Spain, Europe or wherever.

The Fitness Sanctuary

Real Estate photographer Spain Archerphoto

When you are called to shoot some pics of chalet, first thing coming to you is going to be a Real Estate work. I supposed they would want to get the better looks of the building. “They are intending to sell it”, I admit that was my impression when I contacted. The moment I arrived there I was told they are establishing a business consisting in some activities for relaxation and physical improvement, especially weight losing. Their programs include blood tests and different exercise routines, with varied activities, from bike tours to yoga or water aerobics. The Fitness Sanctuary has another division in Tarifa (South of Spain), but I just shot their new place in La Cañada, en Paterna, really close to Valencia City. A big property with lots of space and some pines around.

Their clients are mostly British attracted by the Sun and natural charm of the country. It’s a new tourism business quite innovative, not very known in Spain, so I find it really interesting.

Elliot was who contacted me, and when I was shooting I told him I’d love to post an article in my professional photographer web showing the place and linking his web (http://www.thefitnesssanctuary.com) so I could help him to promote it and, all the same, I’d be showing some of my Real Estate pictures.

Categories of shots

Categories of shots

Often, when shooting, models tell me about some interesting picture they remember and comment me they would like to have a similar one. My experience shows that people finally will choose other pictures that the ones they suggested 99% of the time because it has achieved a more natural, spontaneous pose. But it happens people want to explain how was the image they liked and have no image available, but they insist on explaining how it was. So it is interesting to know the name of each camera shot. So we can express ourselves more clearly.

Actually, these are conventions that allow us to talk about the pictures, but one should not adhere to these definitions to know if the shot is good, bad or average. If the photo works, it works, even when does not fit well in a name.

Categories of shots

Very Wide Shot

It is used to locate the model (or the subject we are going to shoot) in the context. It is very common using a wide angle lens -they can get a major angle being closer- for this, but I preferred to shoot Ava  with my 135 mm from afar. I had to shout her to hear me.

Very Wide Shot. Ava Meade by Sergi Albir, professional photographer in Spain.

Wide Shot

The same as above, but the context is slightly  less important. In this case, Renata was doing choreography in a bodybuilding and fitness championship. Although there was no way of technical department playing the music that she had been training with she did not lose her smile in any moment.

Renata Ban. Wide Angle Shot, por Archerphoto, photographer in Spain.

American Shot (Medium Long Shot)

Roughly from the knees. In this pic we can appreciate the nice figure of Roser, but we avoid in this the fan foot and the light stands, and everything else that was in the bottom.

American Shot. Roser, by Archerphoto, photographer for business in Spain.

Medium Shot

There are two variants from Medium Shot. Roughly chest level or slightly below. Mary’s hair has the maximum prominence with this frame.

Medium Shot. María, by Archerphoto. Video and photography in Spain.

Medium Close Shot

I said, a little above or a little below, the average plane can start from the hip or the sternum. Jessica, in this case appears in an example of the short version of the shot.

Jéssica. Shots in photography and filmmaking. By Archerphoto, corporate photography and video production in Spain.

Close Up

The face is the protagonist, and the look is key. Patricia was fantastic throughout the session, and this was one of the last shots.

Extreme Close Up

Even closer. Ana’s eyes were particularly interesting, so this framing is thoroughly justified. Some people call it “the Italian Shot”.

Italian Shot. Ana Peris, by Archerphoto, professional photographer in Valencia, Spain.

Cut in

Obviously here we seek to capture some detail in particular: in this case, the dress designed by Anillarte is noteworthy.

By camera placement

Bird Shot

You shoot from a position above the subject. Joana in this case has focused the face and the rest of the body is losing definition, but it is a photographer’s choice (myself, of course).
Bird's Eye Shot. Joana, by Archerphoto, professional photographer in Valencia, Spain.

Low Angle Shot

You shoot from below the head of the subject. Some times, from below the hip. I selected this plane in which he showed a little gem with a forced angle, but in many cases is less exaggerated angle shot.

Low Angle Shot. Gema, by Archerphoto, professional photographer in Valencia, Spain, Europe.

Aerial or Zenithal

From above 90 ° soil. Usually uncomfortable shoot well, but Marijose is splendid in this shot with some dramatic tone.

Materials: looking closely

Repairs, by Archerphoto, commercial photographer

It is not uncommon in waiting times, or when you go walking around the street with a camera in hand you find different materials that may be of interest to get a photo. Sometimes they can be used for assembly or make sense per se.

Materials: looking closely

Often, as a photographer, I simply take the photo and then, at home, I’ll see if it makes any sense. And “after” may be when well passed four years. Sure, it’s not always so, but the fact that I have saved and classified pictures properly helps a lot, especially when I have to design a poster or some work with more than an image. What is problematic, I admit, is getting all pictures and videos stored and properly tagged. For a couple of years’m using specific software for classification and tagging and helps dramatically: it increases the profitability of the work already done, but then the trouble to go tagging everything I’ve done over the years that did not have those programs is far from over.

Returning to the photographic subject, different materials can provide interesting textures: wood, glass, metal … In many cases have a macro lens will help but is not essential. A simple 50 1.4 can help a lot.

Five tips for your profile picture in Linkedin

It is pretty obvious that Linkedin is a business network. So if there is a place where appearances are important it is there. A controversial appearance can make you lose a job that aspires or a customer decides not hire your company to appear unprofessional.

Five tips for your profile picture in Linkedin

Five tips for your profile picture in Linkedin

1. Choose a positive image. Except that you must prove that you are hell’s human resources director, you should not use a photo that you seem angry. Avoid aggressive looks of concern to the observer. If you use that kind of photo people seeing your profile will have very little desire to make any deals with you. Best if you smile.

2. A personal image. This means  no dogs, no logo of your company as unique id, and forget completely that idea of a photo of your child, your niece or your cousin. You. They want to know who you are. You can also save a group photo.

3. A professional image. We’ve got to be alone and reasonably positive picture. Now discard all those photos that you are under intoxication or other. A little decorum does not hurt, and if visitors to your site think they’re too prone to bebercio or drugs will feel somewhat unsafe to put their money with you.

4. A well-made image. It is not necessary that you show the world’s best portrait of the year, but a professional photographer will do a good portrait. Save yourself poor focused, blurred, distorted or neglected. The work of a professional is available. You can get an affordable session and it will be a profitable investment. Try to be critical of the image you want to use: the fact your brother-in-law has bought a new SLR camera won’t get you good photos if he is not really great. And please do not use that picture you did at the wedding of someone, that will present you with a little acceptable appearance.

5. A recent image. All Right. Everyone says that in 2008 that picture came out great. It is true that you have gained, you no longer have a mustache, you have a new nose and  you have no longer these hairs, but, uh, you look like Tom Selleck. Nope. Not working. The photo must be recent and a normal person should be able to recognize you smoothly.

Some of these tips can be applied to many of the photographs that you want your customers to see, and Linkedin, and on your website or on your Facebook, but that depends, of course your common sense.

Obviously I can give more advice, but it is also true that I am a photographer and am dedicated to making professional portraits, among other things. So if you need photos is not a bad idea you contact me and concert an appointment. Working mainly in Valencia (Spain), but I will go almost anywhere when needed. You can send an email to sergi@archerphoto.eu or send me an Whatsapp or Telegram at +34 644459753, or even call me, because when  I’m shooting I won’t take the phone.

Professional commercial photographer, Valencia, Spain

I am a professional commercial photographer in Valencia, Spain. I also do other things, but I mainly dedicated to making professional photography and video. I’ve tried different kinds of photography: portrait, portfolio, press, fashion, ads, beauty, NGOs, buildings, and I’ve been shooting in different cities. Even in different countries. But most of my work as a professional photographer it has been in Valencia. I’ve got a small studio, but I try to shoot outside whenever I can, because Valencia has a really friendly weather. Our February is an awful month to shoot, but all the rest is really OK. You can find some samples of my pictures in this page, but feel free to ask me if you need to check any particular kind of photography. I’ve got a full archive and I can license most of my pictures if you need them.

Sky pictures

Actually, taking pictures of the sky is one thing that brings few benefits. If selling landscape pictures was already complicated, the thing became even worse since we see during the TV forecast,  photos they have asked viewers to send. Often the pics are good but they have never paid a single euro for them. So they keep asking: thousands of photos at no cost,. When you consider the cost of a minute of alternatives contents in television -for instance, a minute of Game of Thrones or Doctor Who-, those pics are an absolute bargain. So I have no intention of ever sending them. In fact, from my point of view, it seems unethical to engage in begging photos with the excuse that “people will see your pics and you’ll be popular,” because none of the photographers who are sending get any material benefits.

On the other hand, a pro photographer want his pics seen, so I have them here and in my Flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/photos/archerphoto/ .
